'Twas you who walked
into my life ten years
ago today...
Back when childhood
dawned, and seemed
like it would forever rule
my days...
Back when dreams weren't
hard to find, Life was still
tough, but as long as I
still had you to brighten
up my day...I could leave
that world behind.
I remember the day I first
saw you throught the media's
eye.
You had to be the sweetest
thing I'd ever seen...No, Really
this is no lie.
For I myself was just a child back
then, no younger than the age of
eight...
I took one look at you and said
"Oh, Awesome! He's a kid just
like me."
A distant, but non forgotten
memory...
And the songs that you sung;
Oh, so long ago... were so full
of harmony, and melodies that
unite the soul...
Back when it seemed like time
stood still, Like we never aged...
Days seemed endless, things
always seemed to stay the same...
But sadly you seemed to disapear
almost as quickly as you came... and
for a few more years after that my
life would go through a dramatic
change...
For I would soon begin to miss the
sweet blonde haired, brown eyed
little boy, that I was so use to
seeing everywhere...
Even that sweet little voice I use to
hear on the radio would soon disapear...
For many months after you had taken
your leave, I would search through
every teenage magazine...
Searching for a hint or a trace... of that
once wonderful smiling face, but would
find nothing...
Slowly sadness would take it's toll, then
three years later; just when I was about
to give up hope...
You would re-appear again out of nowhere
it seemed... and your face would show up
on the cover of Teen Magazine...
I would stare in shock... It had been way
too long... I didn't understand... The little
boy I'd grown to love was slowly turning
into a man.
And so things would slowly fall back into
place... at least for a little while, or so
it would seem...
For once the tour ended you would once
again take leave.
Three more years would pass, before I
would see you agian... always wondering
"What's taking so long?" "Why", and "When"
Then when you would finally arrive back on
the scene.
You would have so many truths to tell...
About the music industry, and how they put
you through hell...
You would go from college to college playing
your music, and spreading the word... It made
me wish that at the time I was attending one
of these schools, But sadly at the time I was
only in high school...
It was so good of you to teach us your
knowledge, to teach us everything you know,
but sadly just like many times before... you
would go away once more and take your
leave.
Then another three years would slowly go
pass... you would re-emerge on the scene.
This time telling us of Aids in Africa, how
children went without basic things such as
shoes...
You taught us how to help, and what we
could do... even helping one of their schools.
You took many of us from state to state...
Taking us on a one mile barefoot walk... just
to teach us that in helping others, we are helping
ourselves...
It's been ten, almost eleven years now... I've
learned alot from you... how to sing, to love
the world, and everything I do, to give to
others, to give help... That's what I always
try to do.
And so I say Thank you, for being such an
insperation...
